Five Star Family Day Care Maitland is a Community Based Family Day Care Scheme, which has been established in the Maitland area for 23 years. The Scheme offers flexible, high quality, Accredited care to meet the changing needs of today’s families.

A Community Based Management Committee sponsors Family Day Care and their main focus is ensuring that a quality, flexible and affordable service is provided for the community. Small groups, a safe family atmosphere and a consistent care provider each day ensure that each child’s individual needs are met.

Parents and Child Care Workers are encouraged to have input into the Scheme by either joining the Management Committee or attending social outings and planning days organised by the Scheme from time to time. A regular newsletter also keeps everyone up to date with Scheme activities.

The Committee comprises members from all stakeholders within the Scheme as well as interested community members. The Committee also sponsors In Home Care, an Early Intervention Program and is currently in receipt of funds to provide an ongoing training program for Child Care Workers, linked to the TAFE Certificate III.

The Scheme receives funds from both the Federal and State governments, is Accredited as “High Quality” by the National Childcare Accreditation Council and Licensed by the Department of Community Services. As such, very high standards of accountability at both the operational and service level are met.

Currently over 70 Child Care Workers provide care covering the entire Maitland LGA. These Child Care Workers are trained and supported by a Coordination Unit made up of a team of qualified professional workers. Care is organised through the Coordination Unit who provide ongoing support to both families and Child Care Workers and monitor the high level of safety and compliance required by Child Care Workers.

Children and Child Care Workers receive the benefit of weekly play sessions and regular support and monitoring visits from the staff. Resource Kits are also provided to Child Care Workers to assist them in providing a program for the children in their care that addresses all areas of development and individual needs.

For further information on how you childcare needs can be met, contact the Coordination Unit on Ph 49345716 or email admin@maitlandfdc.com.au.
