Newcastle City Council has been operating Family Day Care services in the local government area since 1979. The scheme is accredited by the National Childcare Accreditation Council and licensed by the Department of Community Services (DoCS).
Previously two family day care schemes in the area merged into one larger service. Currently the scheme supports 80 carers in the Newcastle Council Local Governernment area.
In partnership with NSW In-Home Care, Newcastle Five Star Family Day Care can organise flexibile childcare in the child's own home for qualifying families
In partnership with Samaritans Foundation, Newcastle Five Star Family Day Care, offer childcare and supported playgroup for families utilising the Brighter Futures program.
